One of the most desired filters to make daytime long exposure are ND ND x400 or x1000. Both closed 9 and 10 diaphragms, respectively, and are marketed by Hoya and B&In.

They are neutral density filters so that we may have to use a filter gradient to resolve the differences in light between heaven and our subject to be photographed.
Personally I use the x400 nd Hoya in conjunction with a gradient Cokin intensity you need at any given time.
On a sunny day, nd use x400, closing the maximum aperture of your camera and using the lowest ISO possible, can give us exposure to 30 seconds approximately.
As the sun goes falling presentations can drag out longer because we are faced with less light.
When sunlight is strong we will not have trouble using our autofocus camera to focus properly with the filter set, but after sunset or before sunrise, sure the filter will be removed, approach and place a posteriori. This is because these filters are nearly opaque and autofocus camera can not focus when lighting conditions are poor.
This must be done very carefully and gently as it is very easy to move the focus ring or zoom unintentionally and we can find a picture out of focus or poorly composed.
Depend on the skill of the photographer as well as light conditions make this manioba or not.
Here is an example.

Exif:
Nikon D80
Focal 10mm
75s exposure
Aperture f22
ISO 100
Hoya Filter nd x400.
Another example

Exif:
Nikon D80
Focal 10mm
Exhibit 89.8 s
Aperture f22
ISO 100
Hoya Filter nd x400.
The application can be also different and exhibit a split second to get results than the above as the explosion of a wave

Exif:
Nikon D700
Focal 34mm
Exposure 1/6s
Aperture f22
ISO 100
Hoya Filter nd x400
With this filter in combination with a gradient can also obtain interesting results in the sea playing with the clouds

Exif:
Nikon D700
Focal 42mm
Exhibit 90.3 s
Aperture f14
ISO 200
Filter Cokin Hoya and x121s x400 nd
And of, the effect of silk used as

Exif:
Nikon D700
Focal 24mm
13s exposure
Aperture F7.1
ISO 200
Hoya Filter nd x400
These filters are provided to the digital edition of black and white so you can get results like the following

Exif:
Nikon D700
Focal 24mm
Exhibition 4s
Aperture f22
ISO 100
Hoya Filter nd x400
Note that your camera's exposure meter will always be useful and when you are bright enough to one day. In the event that you use these filters in low light, you are to calculate the exposure as described in that other article which you can download the table for this purpose.
It is certainly a good choice if you like the long exposure and do not have the facility to practice at night.
Here's a video of photographs taken with x400 nd

Good again Mario, I saw that work with DealExtreme,
comentarte that I have a D80, Peleng with a fixed 8 mm manual,
my question is, not meet some workaround to put a neutral density?
there are no filters for this purpose , and me and asked if I ever met with a similar problem
Thank you very much Mario!!
As far as I know, construction do not exist with.
Regards.
hello, why I decided to write is for me to stay with the photos that impresses you , In August I am traveling to Madrid , I'm from Argentina and I would love any course reliza .
thank you very much for your ART!!!
Hi Ramiro.
By August there are no scheduled course.

Hello Mario,
I want to buy a neutral density filter, but obviously I fail to NDX400, I looked and that the Hoya HMC NDX4, asked whether official similarly, or if I can recommend one that is of 2stops, Price solidarity.
Regards,
There are basins that close 2, 3 and 4 steps are not very expensive and will let you expose a second twilight hours.
Regards.
hello mario ,buenisima photos ,Now a query?I have a canon sx 30 ,I can take similar photos or presisamente better,I send you a hug and thanks.
Hello Silvio. If I'm not mistaken we anta a hybrid camera. You have to figure out the maximum exposure time that allows you to. Also, if your goal is threaded on the front to put filters. If not you could do it manually before putting it to subtract the amount of light reaching the camera and thus increase the exposure.
Regards.
ok thanks exelentes photos and over again. hug Pinamar Argentina
Hi. I want to get this filter, but I can say I could not find on the internet NowhereLand. What are your suggestions a nd I want to get a different filter. enough to make me stop every few light long exposure. Thanks in advance
You can look in there fotocasion.es have them all. See postage and shipping to where you are that may not be too expensive.

Hello Mario, Could you enable the link or hang the item in the calculation of exposure to the table? You can not download. A greeting and thank you very much.
It is on the link not working. Anyway, I'll leave it here:

Thanks.
I really like this type of exposure. Thank you for your wisdom Blog. I wanted to show work. With this filter es mas cheap Polaroid. and you can adjust from Nd3 to ND400. In Spain there are well known but in the U.S. are all the rage. Insurance will soon arrive. I really gave a great result.. A salute Mr Mario.. http://www.ebay.es/itm/POLAROID-37MM-NEUTRAL-DENSITY-VARIABLE-FADER-ND-FILTER-Adjustable-ND2-to-ND400-/13066065636
It seems that the link is no longer working. If you can give another is great.
Thanks.
Hello Mario, very good material, now I have the movie's clear that the effect could not make silk from a stream in full sun, what I do not keep well clear is this part “Personally I use the Hoya nd x400 in conjunction with a Cokin gradient of the intensity you need at any given time.” what you mean with a gradient and which would function? from already thank you very much!! Regards!!
The gradient filter is used to light up the difference between heaven and earth. This can be exposed for seconds without any overexposed…
thank you very much Mario!!! regards!!
